I love to explore the sense of timelessness and classical beauty and line in art. I want to depict a serene moment in time, a pause in the frenetic pace of our day. As the viewer comes into my art, they begin to see the fabric, the patterns, the colors. The juxtaposition of fabric and painterly “brush strokes” with the tranquillity of the quintessential still life creates a dynamic dichotomy. That creative discord, that constant balance between the fluidity of line and the tangibility of fabric is what keeps my work challenging. Because art is a reflection of our culture, I want my work to inspire people to see their world differently, to take a moment and stop and appreciate something beautiful or evocative. Art is that mirror that helps people think more creatively and it makes them more productive in their lives.
